Hello All-
I've tried researching this on the web but can't seem to find anything that matches my situation. I recently switched from DSL to Cable internet service. I have a desktop and a laptop in the house. The desktop is connected directly to the router and is working very well - much faster than the DSL in both download and upload speed. The laptop is wireless and is now MUCH slower than the previous DSL connection. The funny thing is, the upload speeds on the laptop are consistently just as fast as the desktop. Here are my results from speedtest.net:
Desktop (Connected Directly Through Router):
Donwload: 24373 kb/s
Upload: 1537 kb/s
Laptop (Wireless):
Download: 323 kb/s
Upload: 1420 kb/s
Why would my wireless Upload speed be 4.5x FASTER than my Download speed? I was getting about 5x faster with DSL.
If it helps diagnose, the laptop is using Windows Vista with a Dell 1505 Draft 802.11n built-in wireless card. The router is a Linksys WRT160N. I've seen a wireless connection speed ranging anywhere from 13.0 to 130.0.
I've also considered that I have a 2.4 GHZ cordless phone in the house which could cause some interference. I've disconnected and unplugged that phone and replaced it with a corded phone and that didn't make any difference.
My signal strength is excellent on the laptop even when I'm on the main floor of the house (the router is upstairs).
I believe I have the latest firmware installed.
Do I need to adjust my router settings somehow? I have a WPA2 security with what I think is a good passkey. What other information can I provide for further assistance?
Re: Download speed is good but upload speed is slow You're welcome. I'm not aware of beam 60 having any known issues, so the next step would be to run some speed tests at testmy.net so the reps/engineers can help you.

I have an Envy 14 with Intel Advanced-N 6200 AGN wireless adapter. I use a Linksys WRT160N wireless router, and I have Comcast business grade 22Mbps Internet. When connected directly to cable, everything is fine, I got up to 90 Mbps download speed and 8Mbps upload speed, however, when connect through wireless router, I got only 1 Mbps (!!!) download speed but still 8 Mbps upload speed. Both router and laptop are running on wireless-N mode.
I have tried various settings in my router, changing channels, radio bands, network mode (n only, b/g/n mixed, etc) and various other things, but it doesn't seems to change a thing. My other Macbook pro laptop got 16 Mbps download speed, although still not satisfactory, but it's acceptable. I wonder what's wrong with my Envy 14 laptop. I downloaded and installed latest drivers, but nothing helped.
I am running on Windows 7 64-bit version.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem... correct that... HAD the same problem.
It turns out that the router is 'dumbing' it's speed down to communicate to other b/g clients on the same network. (oh normies... SMH). i went inside my router config and switched it to N-band only then sat back and watch the sparks fly... back to the future style! talk about cranking!
Bad Download Speed But Good Upload Free
goodluck to you guys.
PS: you can disconnect the normies on your network and check if it makes a difference.
